Liability insurance does not cover a stolen vehicle.
I believe he would have to have comprehensive, but I am not sure.
I had always thought collision would cover a collision with a deer, but that is under comprehensive.
Liability will only cover bodily injury to someone who you hit, or property damage to the vehicle or building you damage.
They might not check to see if you're covered BUT you may have to show proof of insurance (a copy of the insurance card proving that there is insurance on the motorcycle). You could still get ticket for not carrying proof of insurance even if you are insured.
However to be safe you should contact your dad's insurance as not all insurance policies insure other drivers. Depends on the insurance carrier and/or the insurance policy. From what I have learned, the cheaper the policy, more likely there are many more restrictions or limitations.

think you have your wires crossed……you have to have liability, in case you hit somebody…………and that dont cover your repairs, or replacement if it gets stolen…….
just who you hit, and maybe a ride in the meat wagon……………..
